Cockroach Control Tips & Resources

Straight answers on spotting, stopping, and preventing roaches in Dallas homes and businesses.

Spotting an infestation early

The earlier you catch roaches, the faster and cheaper they are to clear. Watch for live roaches at night when you turn on a light, tiny pepper-like droppings along counters and in drawers, small capsule-shaped egg cases in cracks, and a faint musty odor. Seeing roaches in the open during the day usually means the population is already large. If any of these sound familiar, it is worth a call to identify the species.

Why German roaches are different

German cockroaches are small, light brown, and striped, and they live indoors near food and water. They breed fast and resist many sprays, which is why store-bought products often make them worse by scattering the colony. They need professional gel baits and growth regulators applied over two to three visits. Learn more on our German cockroach extermination page.

Simple prevention that works

Roaches need food, water, and shelter. Take those away and they leave. Store food in sealed containers, wipe counters and clean under appliances, fix leaks and dry out damp areas, take out trash regularly, and seal cracks around pipes and baseboards. Prevention will not clear an active infestation, but it keeps a treated home roach-free.

When to call an exterminator

If you are seeing roaches repeatedly, finding droppings or egg cases, or fighting the same problem with sprays that do not last, it is time for professional help. An exterminator confirms the species, treats the colony at the source, and follows up to break the cycle. See residential cockroach extermination or call for same-day help.
